When I first found out about Cannon Chinese Kitchen, the sister restaurant of Shinjuku Station and Tokyo Cafe, I was pretty excited. Tokyo Cafe brings back great memories as that’s where Scott and I had our first date, and Shinjuku Station is one of our favorites for celebrations, good sushi, and the freshest ingredients. Oh, and the Tok Fries.
So, naturally I had high hopes for Cannon. And, they certainly delivered. This authentic Chinese restaurant is located on Cannon Street in an adorable pastel yellow 1930’s home with blue trim. Cannon makes for a fun lunch or dinner experience with an interior that’s as inviting as it is unique with bright, patterned wall paper and decor.
Their website states that they serve traditional-inspired Chinese cuisine with an emphasis on the freshest ingredients prepared from scratch. So, if your idea of Chinese food is orange chicken, let go of that. This is real Chinese food with real ingredients. It’s delicious and the dining style is one of my favorites.
Choose from a variety of small plates to get a taste of everything, and dig in family style. Voted best tapas/shareable restaurant by Fort Worth Texas Magazine staff in the 2016 Best Of issue, Cannon Chinese Kitchen is a great place to enjoy a meal with friends.
